Songs for Petra

The unforgotten jazz bassist Charlie Haden was a father to one son and three daughters who were triplets. All the Haden children live for and from music. In Germany, the most famous of those is Petra Haden. It was for her that John Zorn composed his »Songs for Petra«, which were released as an album in spring 2020. Some of that material sounds as if Frank Zappa had begun experimenting with the Americana genre while he was still alive. The words were provided by Jesse Harris, who writes and sings switched-on songs of his own. Zorn and Harris have known and respected each other for a long time. For this project, he joins the casual trio on stage as an instrumentalist.
