Not of this world

»The Gnostic Trio, with Bill Frisell on the guitar, Kenny Wollesen on the vibraphone and Carol Emanuel on the harp, is performing what is probably the most beautiful music I’ve ever written«, says John Zorn. The combination of instruments looks exotic, and it sounds exotic too: very soft and spherical, like something from another world. While he also features as a percussionist in many other Reflektor line-ups over the weekend, in this concert Kenny Wollesen, long-standing drumming partner to Bill Frisell, indulges his passion for the vibraphone. Carol Emanuel, who has contributed to around two dozen Zorn albums, takes a wonderfully unorthodox approach to the harp. And Bill Frisell is Bill Frisell.
