Of competing musicians and graffiti in big cities

What does the classical music of today sound like? Incredibly diverse, of course! And no one could know this better than Frankfurt’s Ensemble Modern – the leading ensemble for cutting edge music, which has rocked the classical world for more than four decades. Under the direction of experienced star conductor Sylvain Cambreling, it plays works by two completely different composers with whom a long-standing collaboration connects the musicians: South Korean composer Unsuk Chin, who lives in Berlin, and German old master Helmut Lachenmann, whom the Ensemble Modern also wishes a happy 90th birthday.
