Alexander Krichel takes the audience on a journey from melancholy dances to virtuoso, demonic soundscapes that bring the entire spectrum of Ravel’s music to life in all its colours. An evening that presents the masterful art of this composer in an unforgettable way and honours him on his 150th birthday.

Maurice Ravel, a master of French Impressionism, creates a unique and incomparably multi-faceted world of sound in his piano works. In his suite »Le Tombeau de Couperin«, he combines the elegance of the Baroque with the tragedy of mass death in the First World War in a light-footed and bright manner, while the »Miroirs« reflect impressions of nature in refined sounds. With »Gaspard de la nuit«, Ravel delves deep into dark, mystical spheres and creates one of the most technically and musically demanding and emotionally powerful works in the entire piano literature.
