Great choral works sounds particularly good at the Elbphilharmonie – the first two seasons are testament to that. Reason enough to invite the world’s best choirs and orchestra for concert versions of operas and music history’s most imposing choral works. Major requiems by Mozart, Verdi and Brahms feature on this season’s programme alongside operas spanning four centuries: from »La liberazione di Ruggiero dall'isola d'Alcina« by Francesca Caccini, Jean-Philippe Rameau's »Hippolyte et Aricie«, Mozart's »Don Giovanni« and Verdi's »La Traviata« to recent productions such as Artist in Residence Sir George Benjamin's highly emotional and celebrated »Written on Skin«, Olga Neuwirth's »Moby Dick« adaptation »The Outcast« and Philippe Hersant‘s shattering and yet audacious opera »Tristia«.
