Description

As orchestra in residence of the Elbphilharmonie Konzerte, the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen has played its way into the hearts of Hamburg audiences over the years with its lively and critically acclaimed performances in the Laeiszhalle. Therefore, it is an honour that this fiery, accomplished collective is now stepping onto the Elbphilharmonie stage.

After a multitude of selections from their benchmark cycles of Beethoven, Schumann and Brahms, under the leadership of principal conductor Paavo Järvi, the programme for the inaugural season now focuses on the close – one might say intimate – relationship between the two Hanseatic cities and their musical protagonists.

In the first concert of the season, Hamburg-born and internationally acclaimed violinist Christian Tetzlaff takes the stage (in the Laeiszhalle) as principal soloist with two violin concertos. At the beginning of March, the conductor and new Elbphilharmonie composer in residence Matthias Pintscher introduces the Bremen musicians to their new playroom on the water. Packed in their suitcases: Mendelssohn’s »Scottish Symphony« along with a work by Pintscher himself. Also at the helm of the »DDKB« as conductor and composer in May is the former Hamburg State Opera artistic director Peter Ruzicka. Welcome to your new home, Kammerphilharmonie!
