Schneider Kacirek / Szun Waves
Reflektor Nils Frahm / Double Bill
Nils Frahm has invited artists who complement each other perfectly to play at the concerts in the Recital Hall during his »Reflektor« festival. At the double-bill concerts, each half is performed by a different musician. The first half of this concert is played by the Schneider-Kacirek Duo. Sven Kacirek contributed the dark wooden sounds of the bass marimba to Nils Frahm’s album »All Melody«, while Stefan Schneider shares Frahm’s love of historic synthesizers with all their analogue charm. After the interval, the stage belongs to Szun Waves, who previously opened Frahm’s concerts in London, while Luke Abbott produced several reworks of Frahm’s compositions.
Ticket information: All young adults under the age of 28 can book the best available seats for only €10.00. During the booking process, select your desired seats and then the discount »REDticket«.
For Sven Kacirek the drums are much more than just a rhythm instrument. The Hamburg-based musician is constantly engaged in a meticulous search for new sounds, which he uses to create enchanted musical scenery. His duo partner Stefan Schneider fills the open spaces sparingly with atmospheric sounds from his analogue synthesizers. Together they create dark-hued dream worlds that are abstract, but still provide orientation and draw the listener in.
The music of the British trio Szun Waves has a higher energy level, it’s true, but it also features psychedelic dream sequences. Saxophonist Jack Wyllie (Portico Quartet), drummer Laurence Pike (PVT) and electronica producer Luke Abbott revolve around one another in wild band improvisations, but the foundations that organise their music and make it understandable are always in evidence.
