Quartet Gerhard
Gerhard / Debussy / Schubert (substitute date)
In 2010 four old friends in Catalonia founded the Quartet Gerhard. Their studies together took them to Basel, Berlin and Hanover, where the quartet perfected its characteristic warm and homogeneous sound. The ensemble possesses a remarkable sensitivity for sound and an intrinsic respect for music as the utmost link connecting people. For their debut at the Elbphilharmonie, the Quartet Gerhard presents a mammoth programme for lovers of chamber music with some of the great works from the string quartet repertoire: Schubert’s last quartet, Debussy and Robert Gerhard – it is from the Swiss-Catalan composer and Schönberg pupil that the quartet takes its name.
