Reminiscences of Karlrobert Kreiten – »›Schattenzeit‹ 1943 und ein letztes ungespieltes Konzert« – Harbour Front Sounds
A mosaic of stories and portraits
Historian and author Oliver Hilmes is known for his brilliantly researched biographies that are as elegant as they are engagingly written. His books on Alma Mahler-Werfel and Cosima Wagner were huge sales successes. His bestseller »Berlin 1936. Sechzehn Tage im August« (Berlin 1936: Sixteen Days in August) was translated into many languages and awarded international prizes. In »Schattenzeit« Hilmes now looks at the year 1943: Stalingrad, Goebbels declares war, Hans Albers can be seen in the cinema as Münchhausen, the cities lie in ruins, and yet people are still dancing.
