The world first took note of Midori Takada around 40 years ago when she was a percussionist with the RIAS Sinfonieorchester Berlin. But Western classical music increasingly gave the Japanese musician a headache: »Its spirit does not seek to strengthen the inner self.« To find that characteristic she had to turn to African and Asian music. The legendary Japanese percussionist now gives her Elbphilharmonie debut in the Recital Hall.

Renovation Work in Recital Hall Foyer: The Recital Hall Foyer is currently not accessible owing to renovation work currently being carried out. A cloakroom for guests will be provided on the Plaza in close vicinity to the entrance of the Recital Hall. Some intermission refreshments will also be on offer on the Plaza.
