Description

In the wake of its overwhelming success, a second season of the concert series initiated by Thomas Hengelbrock will be put on in 2018: an hour of classical music in the Grand Hall at the Elbphilharmonie, played by the resident orchestra under the baton of its principal conductor. No dress regulations, no rules of etiquette, just a relaxed atmosphere!

The accordion is heard only very rarely in classical concert halls. But fortunately, that is currently changing thanks to Ksenija Sidorova, a young musician who aims to make her instrument known to a wider public. She was just recently awarded the Echo Klassik prize as best instrumentalist at a ceremony held at the Elbphilharmonie, and she now returns as the soloist in Astor Piazzolla’s »Aconcagua«. After the interval, the programme features Antonín Dvořák’s lyrical Eighth Symphony, for which the landscape of the composer’s native Czechoslovakia served as inspiration.
