»In the midst of chaos, how do we find peace?« Joyce DiDonato answers this question in her newest programme, recently recorded on her CD »In War and Peace«. It is DiDonato’s firm belief that »art unifies, transcends borders, and connects the disconnected, and is a valiant path to peace«.

Through well-known arias and rediscoveries from forgotten opera dramas, the distinguished American singer allows the heroes and rulers like Cleopatra, Rinaldo, Caesar and Dido to speak. That these intense moments in Baroque opera still manage to strike a nerve is certainly due to the emotional power of the music as well as the intoxicating and electrifying interpretation of this soprano.
