A French rarity

Stéphane Denève has the reputation of one of today’s most exciting conductors, not only thanks to his interpretations, but also owing to his unusual choice of programme. He demonstrates his special fondness for little-known works from his native France with the NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra as well, when he imports the Third Symphony by Albert Roussel, written in 1930, to northern Europe. Denève couples the work with Ravel’s »La valse«: Ravel was possibly Roussel’s most important precursor. Before the interval, Artist in Residence Leonidas Kavakos makes an appearance – with the Brahms Violin Concerto.
