Description
Seduction doesn’t just take place in the bedroom: it happens all the time on the much larger stage of everyday life. Dictators, agitators, advertising strategists, charity fundraisers, prophets, politicians and celebrities are constantly trying to wrap us around their little fingers. Their enticing appeals are amplified by the media, who likewise vie for our attention. Can one, should one take this absurd circus seriously? Well, if you’re an artist with backbone and your name happens to contain the initials TV, then you´ll want to take a stand. The Dutch composer and media artist Jacob Ter Veldhuis (otherwise known as Jacob TV) compiles video clips into bizarre parodies of media reality, which are screened at MTV speed and accompanied live with a mix of pop and avant-garde music. Jacob TV deconstructs the self-staging strategies of the likes of Lady Gaga or Silvio Berlusconi; at the same time he composes virtuosic instrumental pieces around sampled advertising slogans, for which he is just as likely to use a boom box as a classical string quartet. His performance in Hamburg promises to be entertaining and thought-provoking in equal measure.

Location : Rolf-Liebermann-Studio
The Rolf-Liebermann-Studio was a Jewish temple until 1938. Destroyed in the Pogrom Night, ownership of the current Rolf-Liebermann-Studio passed over to the city authorities in 1941, and later to the former Northwest German Broadcasting, which arranged its conversion into a large concert hall. With its classical music concerts, readings, matinees and jazz concerts, the studio is one of the first ports of call for the culturally aware today.
