Anna Prohaska was pretty much destined for a career in music: after all she grew up in the villa where Johann Strauss composed »Die Fledermaus«. From there, she rose quickly through the ranks: she was a member of the ensemble at the Berlin State Opera Unter den Linden, making her debut at the Salzburg Festival in 2009 and winning the Kunstpreis Berlin in 2016. Her piano partner Julius Drake is one of today’s leading song accompanists, and works regularly with highly-respected artists like Ian Bostridge and Angelika Kirchschlager. Tonight Prohaska and Drake present a programme at the Elbphilharmonie that is nothing short of heavenly.
