Description

Longing is one of the most powerful of human emotions and it is often impossible to describe in words. Fortunately we have music. We can arguably express ourselves better through sound than with language… A concert for children aged 5 to 7.

Four strange and uncommunicative figures meet one cold evening. None of them knows what to do with themselves or how to shake off their dark melancholy. But their encounter brings light to the darkness of the night. All four have an instrument with them. Note by note, they get to know each other and decide to look for Umbidu, the place where happiness is said to reside.

Through fantasy language, improvisation and music by György Ligeti, Erik Satie and others, a moving, sensitive, yet funny story about friendship develops – beautifully and warmly played by the Austrian ensemble Die Schurken. »On the Road to Umbidu« was awarded the »Junge Ohren Prize« in 2015.
