Description

The repertoire of English tenor Ian Bostridge ranges from Bach and Mozart through to Schubert, Britten and Gershwin. Bostridge also extends regular invitations to prominent contemporary composers to write music for him. No lesser figure than Brad Mehldau recently accepted the invitation: the award-winning American jazz pianist, who has always had a heart not only for jazz standards, but also for classical composers like Schumann or Brahms, has written an entire cycle especially for Ian Bostridge. In the Elbphilharmonie Recital Hall, the duo combine Mehldau’s new compositions with one of the greatest song cycles of the German Romantic era: Robert Schumann’s »Dichterliebe«.
