Die Woche der Rising Stars beginnt mit einem jungen Streichquartett aus Portugal: dem Quarteto de Cordas de Matosinhos, zu Deutsch: das Streichquartett von Matosinhos. In der Tat fanden sich die vier jungen Musiker im Jahre 2007 auf Initiative der nordportugiesischen Hafenstadt zusammen, wo sie seither eine feste Konzertreihe in der Stadthalle pflegen. Von dieser lokalen Basis aus strebt das Quartett, das in Lissabon und Madrid bei Rainer Schmidt vom Hagen Quartett studierte und bereits mehrere Wettbewerbe gewann, nun in eine internationale Karriere. Neben den Klassikern des Repertoires von Haydn bis Schostakowitsch widmet sich das Matosinhos String Quartet vor allem der zeitgenössischen portugiesischen Musik. Es hat bereits zahlreiche Werke in Auftrag gegeben, uraufgeführt und zum ersten Mal aufgenommen. Neben Quartetten von Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy und Dmitri Schostakowitsch werden die vier Portugiesen deshalb auch ein Werk des portugiesischen Romantikers José Vianna da Motta, der einer der letzten Schülers Franz Liszt‘ in Weimar war, und die 2008 von ihnen uraufgeführten »Caged Symphonies« von Vasco Mendonça spielen. Im Rahmen von »ZukunftsMusik« besuchen Schüler des Gymnasiums Lerchenfeld dieses Konzert. Im Rahmen eines Schulbesuchs der vier Musiker können die Schüler alle vier Künstler aus nächster Nähe kennenlernen. Chamber music series, lieder recitals, children's concerts and jazz events seem to be made for the Recital Hall of the Laeiszhalle, which can accommodate up to 640 guests. (Please note: The Laeiszhalle is a separate concert hall located three kilometres away from the Elbphilharmonie.)

We suggest visitors arrive at the Laeiszhalle main entrance not later than 30 minutes before the start of the concert or event. Late seating is not guaranteed and latecomers may not be admitted to the concert hall.
The entrance of the Recital Hall is located on Gorch-Fock-Wall.
