Description

Watching stars works best once it gets dark. This simple hobby-astronomical insight is not only valid for the outdoors, but also for a concert hall: for a whole week, the Kleiner Saal of the Laeiszhalle is transformed into an observatory for the »Rising stars«, artists on their way to the top. Every year the directors of the main European concert halls nominate the most talented emerging artists for this concert series. The stylistic scope of the »Rising Stars« provides for a week full of diverse musical experiences. On the one hand there is jazz with the excellent British saxophonist and flutist Mike Fletcher or an exceptional combination of instruments with the SIGNUM saxophone quartet; on the more traditional side there are concerts with the Franco-Nigerian soprano Omo Bello, the award-winning Bulgarian cellist Michael Petrov and pianist Aaron Pilsan. The week is framed by two string quartets: the all-male Matosinhos String Quartet from Portugal opens the festival and its female counterpart, Quatuor Ardeo from Paris, concludes the week.
