Jazz in a frenzy

Party vibe at a jazz concert? The Munich-based Jazzrausch Bigband makes it happen. With their electrifying blend of powerful brass passages and the groove of techno, hip-hop and soul, the formation is one of Europe’s most successful big bands. Just one year after forming in 2014, the band became »artist in residence« at the trendy Munich techno club »Harry Klein«, giving monthly performances there. It’s a unique combination. »We jazz musicians need to find our way back to the present«, said their bandleader and trombonist Roman Sladek at that time. He sought to move away from an »elite attitude of denial« towards a new awareness of the audience. That approach has paid off wonderfully. From »Harry Klein«, the 20-strong Jazzrausch Bigband has gone on to perform 600 concerts around the world.
