Russian repertoire gems

La Scala in Milan is one of the most renowned, traditional and beautiful opera houses in the world. It goes without saying that the orchestra also enjoys international acclaim. The ensemble’s last concert at the Elbphilharmonie two years ago, conducted by its Milan-born principal conductor Ricardo Chailly, was hailed by the Hamburger Abendblatt as »nougat treats on the Sunday family table«. At that time, the programme featured music by Italian opera giant Giuseppe Verdi. Now the well-rehearsed team returns to the Grand Hall with powerful works by the Russian grand masters Tchaikovsky and Prokofiev, and they are joined by Alexandre Kantorow, one of the most sought-after pianists of our time.
