Description

When Mirga Gražinytė-Tyla took over the baton from Andris Nelsons as chief conductor of the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra at the age of only 29, her gripping energy and precision on the rostrum were already a source of fascination to the classical music world. Sheku Kanneh-Mason in turn caused a sensation at Harry and Meghan’s royal wedding in 2018 when he played the cello, apparently untouched by all the media hype, and moved half the public around the world to tears. At the Elbphilharmonie the Lithuanian conductor and the British cellist come together for a small summit meeting of exceptionally talented musicians.
