Arditti Quartet / Ligeti

Description

The four members of the Arditti Quartet are experts on the music of the 20th and 21st centuries. They have been the benchmark for contemporary string quartets for more than 40 years now, giving literally hundreds of first performances and thus, in a sense, writing composition history. That was good reason for inviting them to appear at the Elbphilharmonie in the first week after the official opening in January 2017. And for the same reason they are just the right ensemble to appear in the series »State of the Art«. The Arditti Quartet returns to the Elbphilharmonie with works by composers ranging from Sofia Gubaidulina to Iannis Xenaxis and also a newly-commissioned piece.
