Elbphilharmonie Talk mit Pablo Held

Elbphilharmonie Talk with Pablo Held

The pianist talks about letting go, the idols of his youth, and why you don’t need to understand music to enjoy it.

Cologne pianist Pablo Held is one of Europe’s most daring improvisers. 15 years ago he founded his telepathically communicating trio with bass player Robert Landfermann and drummer Jonas Burgwinkel. The band has also regularly worked together with other musicians, such as John Scofield, saxophonist Dave Liebman or with the Brazilian guitarist Nelson Veras, with whom it appeared in the Hamburg Laeiszhalle in February 2022. In his Elbphilharmonie Talk Pablo Held talks about the nuances in his music, about the right flow when playing and the cassette tapes that had the strongest influence on him as a child.
