Description

»Then Abraham reached out his hand and took the knife to slay his son« – so it is written in the first book of Moses, the first book of the Christian Bible and the Jewish Tanakh. The new concert project by the Elbphilharmonie’s own »Chor zur Welt« (World Choir), with singers from many different nations, explores the ambivalence and corporeality of faith. Together with the multicultural Berlin Trickster Orchestra - one of the most exciting collectives for experimental global music - the singers developed over months a moving composition between improvisation and fixed form, ancient and modern music, sounds and read word. The libretto is by the philosopher, theologian and author Senthuran Varatharajah.

Please note: Due to the current difficult situation for amateur choirs, the Choir to the World will not be able to participate on stage. The vocal part will be performed by a smaller cast of singers.
