Jazz aus dem Ruhrpott
»Yeah!« – dieses kleine Wörtchen ist eine der größten Anerkennungen, die ein Jazz-Musiker überhaupt bekommen kann, bringt es doch uneingeschränktes Wohlgefallen zum Ausdruck. Stammt es noch dazu aus dem Munde einer Jazz-Legende wie dem Saxofonisten Wayne Shorter, kommt es geradezu einem Ritterschlag gleich. Dem im Ruhrgebiet geborenen Pianisten Pablo Held wurde diese Ehre zuteil, und Shorter fuhr fort: »Mir gefällt, was du tust. Du gehst diesen einen Weg, den die wenigstens zu gehen wagen und gelangst dadurch an andere Orte. Das erfordert Mut, ist aber ein großes Abenteuer.«
Dieses Abenteuer brachte Held 2005 mit dem Bassisten Robert Landfermann und dem Schlagzeuger Jonas Burgwinkel zusammen. Die unerschrockene Spielfreude, mit der die Musiker in Konzerten oft über weite Strecken improvisieren und intuitiv miteinander agieren, machten das Trio zu einem der einflussreichsten Stimmen der europäischen Jazz-Szene. Der Gitarrist John Scofield, mit dem Pablo Held einige Male zusammengespielt hat, nannte die drei sogar »eine der großartigsten Bands unserer Zeit«.
Komposition und Improvisation fließen beinahe unmerklich ineinander und verbinden die melodiöse Komplexität des Free Jazz mit der inneren Ruhe des Smooth Jazz. Für die Tour zum 20-jährigen Jubiläum in dieser Saison holt sich das Trio Verstärkung beim Saxofonisten Chris Potter, mit dem Held bereits mehrfach gemeinsam unterwegs war.

Chamber music series, lieder recitals, children's concerts and jazz events seem to be made for the Recital Hall of the Laeiszhalle, which can accommodate up to 640 guests. (Please note: The Laeiszhalle is a separate concert hall located three kilometres away from the Elbphilharmonie.)

The Laeiszhalle is a separate concert hall located three kilometres away from the Elbphilharmonie.

Arrival time
We suggest visitors arrive at the Laeiszhalle main entrance not later than 30 minutes before the start of the concert or event. Late seating is not guaranteed and latecomers may not be admitted to the concert hall.
The entrance of the Recital Hall is located on Gorch-Fock-Wall.
