Once again this season, five top-class pianists from the international jazz scene perform in the Laeiszhalle Recital Hall. With two gigs in a classic trio setting, two quartets and a solo recital, they set off on a journey through different genres and styles. The feel-good quartet »Little Big«, led by celebrated pianist Aaron Parks, kicks things off with funky beats and catchy melodies; it is followed by a reunion with the innovative Craig Taborn, this time in a trio with Tomeka Reid and Ches Smith. John Medeski, a master of transformation who usually works with such musicians as John Zorn or John Scofield, gives one of his rare solo recitals; Pablo Held celebrates the 20th anniversary of his improvisation trio with star guest Chris Potter, while American jazz pianist and singer-songwriter Rachel Eckroth is still an insider tip in our part of the world.
