Die Orgel der Laeiszhalle
György Ligetis »Volumina« hat bereits mehrere Orgeln auf dem Gewissen. Schon die geplante Uraufführung in Göteborg scheiterte, weil die Sicherungen der Orgel den Klanggewalten nicht gewachsen waren. Um ein Haar wäre es zum Brand gekommen. Der Orgel der Laeiszhalle steht also eine besondere Bewährungsprobe bevor. Bei dem ungarischen Organisten Laszlo Fassang ist sie dabei aber in guten Händen. Fassang hat großes Gespür für die technischen Möglichkeiten und Klangfarben einer Orgel. Das Ausdrucksspektrum eines Instruments kostet er insbesondere im freien Improvisieren aus, das seine besondere Spezialität ist. Gerne geht er dieser Leidenschaft auch mit Musikern aus anderen Genres, beispielsweise dem Jazz, nach. Natürlich beherrscht Fassang auch das Pflichtprogramm eines klassischen Organisten. Die Toccata und Fuge F-Dur gilt als Paradestück von Bachs Kompositionen aus diesem Genre. Die virtuose Stimmführung – insbesondere im Fußpedal! – verlangen dem Interpreten sein ganzes Können ab. Mit Bachs Werk hat sich auch Robert Schumann ausführlich auseinandergesetzt. Am deutlichsten wird dieser Einfluss in Schumanns einzigem Orgelwerk. Die sechs Fugen über den Namen Bach drehen sich ganz um die Tonfolge B-A-C-H.

Since 1908, the Laeiszhalle has been a meeting place for Hamburg's musical life. The neo-baroque Laeiszhalle Grand Hall accommodates over 2,000 guests. (Please note: The Laeiszhalle is a separate concert hall located three kilometres away from the Elbphilharmonie.)

Facilities for ladies are located behind the cloakrooms on all floors. Facilities for gentlemen can be found on the landing between the floors, also located behind the cloakrooms.
A fully accessible toilet for persons with mobility disabilities is located behind the cloakroom on the ground floor (Parkett links).

Please note: There are several construction sites in the immediate vicinity of the Laeiszhalle which may make it difficult to get to the concert. Please therefore plan enough time for your journey to the concert.
The Laeiszhalle is a separate concert hall located three kilometres away from the Elbphilharmonie.
We suggest visitors arrive at the Laeiszhalle main entrance not later than 30 minutes before the start of the concert or event. Late seating is not guaranteed and latecomers may not be admitted to the concert hall.
The entrance of the Recital Hall is located on Gorch-Fock-Wall.
