Description
»Roots« is the name chosen by Katia and Marielle Labèque for their Ravel programme – and there is something undeniably personal about this return to their roots. The two sisters were born in Bayonne in the French part of the Basque Country, from where it is a journey of only 30 kilometres to Ravel’s birthplace in Ciboure. The two pianists are therefore not only tracing a path back to their own childhood, but also to that of Ravel, whose mother was from the Basque region.
