Beethoven: The Sonatas I

Ludwig van Beethoven and star pianist Igor Levit have a very special relationship. The depth of their bond certainly goes beyond mere coincidence and Levit is now considered to be a leading interpreter of Beethoven’s works. In Hamburg he encounters a whole cycle of the master’s 32 sonatas, eight concerts from October 2026 to June 2028. Levit believes he has a much stronger connection to Beethoven than to other composers. »He writes the most deeply human music. More than anyone else, he integrates all the character, emotions and thoughts that make us human into his music. He created music for us and about us.« Levit is not only convinced of the revolutionary power and true humanity inside Beethoven’s sonatas, he is also the one pianist most capable of fully revealing these attributes to his listeners.
