Bruckner meets Brahms
Johannes Brahms’ Second Piano Concerto moved the critic Eduard Hanslick in 1881 to call it »a grand symphony with piano obligato«. The Seventh Symphony of Anton Bruckner, first performed in Leipzig in 1884, finally brought the 60-year-old artist the breakthrough and the recognition he craved as a composer.
