Zelenka / Bach
Jan Dismas Zelenka war so etwas wie das tschechische Pendant zu Johann Sebastian Bach. Seine höchst originellen und virtuosen Werke vereinen italienische und französische Einflüsse, strenge Kontrapunktik mit starkem Ausdruck und machten ihn zu einem der wichtigsten Barockkomponisten seiner Zeit. Doch wie Bach geriet auch Zelenka nach seinem Tod weitestgehend in Vergessenheit und wurde erst im 19. Jahrhundert im Zuge der tschechischen Nationalbewegung wiederentdeckt. Besonders seinem Werk verschrieben hat sich das Ensemble Collegium 1704 und sein Gründer Václav Luks, die sogar das Uraufführungsjahr von Zelenkas frühem Werk »Via Laureata« im Namen tragen.
In Hamburg erklingt nun aber ein Spätwerk Zelenkas: die »Missa Dei Filii«, die mit ekstatischen Ausbrüchen von Chor und Orchester aufwartet und zu den besonders reifen Messkompositionen dieser Zeit gehört. Eingeleitet wird das Programm mit einer Auswahl der »Responsoria pro Hebdomada Sancta«. Dabei handelt es sich um kurze, tief empfundene Wechselgesänge, die ursprünglich für die Karwoche komponiert worden sind und die einen Höhepunkt in Zelenkas kompositorischem Schaffen darstellen. Abgerundet wird das Programm mit Johann Sebastian Bachs Kantate »Weinen, Klagen, Sorgen, Zagen«, die der Komponist so schätzte, dass er ihren Anfang später in seiner berühmten h-Moll-Messe verarbeitete.

Since 1908, the Laeiszhalle has been a meeting place for Hamburg's musical life. The neo-baroque Laeiszhalle Grand Hall accommodates over 2,000 guests. (Please note: The Laeiszhalle is a separate concert hall located three kilometres away from the Elbphilharmonie.)

Facilities for ladies are located behind the cloakrooms on all floors. Facilities for gentlemen can be found on the landing between the floors, also located behind the cloakrooms.

We suggest visitors arrive at the Laeiszhalle main entrance not later than 30 minutes before the start of the concert or event. Late seating is not guaranteed and latecomers may not be admitted to the concert hall.
The entrance of the Recital Hall is located on Gorch-Fock-Wall.
