The Balthasar Neumann Choir is feted by critics and audiences alike as one of the world's very best choirs, regularly garnering acclaim for its beautiful and expressive interpretations of works from all eras. In this concert, conducted by Thomas Hengelbrock, the choir presents itself in almost puristic guise with a programme of Late Romantic choral music.

>With stylish dramaturgy, the programme builds a powerful musical arch from the emotional brute force of Franz Liszt's »Via crucis« to the luscious beauty of motets and organ pieces by Max Reger and Anton Bruckner, a journey that takes audiences from death and mourning to hope and light. The intensive, colourful and plastic sound that choir is well known for promises a unique listening experience – be it a cappella or accompanied by the huge organ – in the Elbphilharmonie's brilliant acoustics.
