Beethoven I
Ring frei für die erste Runde im Showdown der zwei großen B’s in der Welt der Kammermusik: Belcea versus Beethoven. In sechs Konzerten beschäftigen sich die vier Musiker mit dem Meilenstein in der Quartettliteratur, den gesamten Quartetten Beethovens. Den Anfang machen zwei seltener gespielte Werke, unter ihnen das erste Quartett, das Beethoven komponierte. Entgegen der irreführenden Opuszahl 18/3 kann man aus den Skizzenbüchern des damals 28-Jährigen ableiten, dass dies sein erster Versuch in dieser Gattung sein muss, die bis dahin von Haydn, Boccherini und Mozart maßgeblich geprägt worden war. Erstaunlich ist, wie kompositorisch unabhängig Beethoven sich zu diesen Meistern verhält und einen eigenen, typischen Stil begründet. Im so genannten »Harfen Quartett« von 1809 ist Beethoven bereits routiniert in seiner Arbeitsweise, auch wenn dieses Quartett die Courage der vorangegangen »Rasumowski-Quartette« vermissen lässt. Der Beiname des Streichquartetts Es-Dur op. 74 erklärt sich übrigens mit offenen Ohren beim Genießen fast von selbst.

Chamber music series, lieder recitals, children's concerts and jazz events seem to be made for the Recital Hall of the Laeiszhalle, which can accommodate up to 640 guests. (Please note: The Laeiszhalle is a separate concert hall located three kilometres away from the Elbphilharmonie.)

We suggest visitors arrive at the Laeiszhalle main entrance not later than 30 minutes before the start of the concert or event. Late seating is not guaranteed and latecomers may not be admitted to the concert hall.
The entrance of the Recital Hall is located on Gorch-Fock-Wall.
