This season, four of the world’s most renowned string quartets gather for a musical conversation »between four sensible people« (Goethe). Quatuor Ébène celebrates the contrasts between Ligeti, Schumann and Purcell; Cuarteto Casals marks its 25th anniversary with Bach’s multi-facetted »The Art of Fugue«. Also featuring the Jerusalem Quartet with »music under tyranny« by Prokofiev, Shostakovich and Bartók, and the Hagen Quartet with a Mozart-only programme.
