School Concerts Perfect for every year group: experience music in the Grand Hall and Recital Hall with the Elbphilharmonie’s school concerts

From the Classroom to the Elbphilharmonie

The Elbphilharmonie is keen to delight and inspire – especially so guests who may be attending a concert for the first time. As a gateway to the world of music, the Elbphilharmonie welcomes school pupils in particular. There are regular concerts for school classes, and these are tailored to the respective age group. Primary schoolchildren can enjoy their first concert experience with imaginative staged productions. Among other things, older pupils can experience how meditation and mindfulness change their perception of music.

Autumn programme

Sonne, Mond und Streicher

School Years 1–4

In each of these elaborately staged concerts in the Recital Hall of the Elbphilharmonie, a new, wonderful world unfolds. Sometimes the audience travels to the moon, accompanied by solo piano and sand art (»Field Trip to the Moon«). Sometimes an eleven-piece string ensemble takes the stage and poses the biggest question of all: Can we save the Earth together? One thing is certain: No one is too young to make a difference (»What on Earth!«).

School Years 3–6

School Classes 3–6 are going on a journey – through the world and through time. In »Journey into a New World«, the Ensemble Resonanz transforms the Recital Hall into an imaginative space filled with longing and hope, using artistic projections and the music of Antonín Dvořák. »It’s Time« tells the story of an enchanted actress who confronts the mystery of time. Whenever she seems to solve it, time slips away. And the four percussionists from Elbtonal Percussion demonstrate that you can actually play drums on just about anything.

Schattenkonzert

School Years 7–13

In “zen,” meditation techniques allow the audience to feel the effects of Ensemble Resonanz’s music within their own bodies. “Let’s Play Vol. 2” brings live gaming with orchestral and sound accompaniment to both the Grand Hall and Twitch. The “Shadow Concert” with the orchestra in the stairwell addresses social issues. People who, for various reasons, have no voice in public speak anonymously to the audience from behind a shadow wall, accompanied by the orchestra’s music.
