The Elbphilharmonie on four wheels, with which the children in Hamburg’s kindergartens can try out a huge selection of instruments
The Elbphilharmonie Visits the Boroughs
The Elbphilharmonie makes stops with the Sound Mobile at 20 community centres and kindergartens (upon request) all across Hamburg. Children embark on a fascinating journey to discover and experience the wonderful world of music in its entirety: playfully, creatively, with their voices, with their bodies – and by trying out the many instruments brought along by the Sound Mobile.
Two different programme are on offer: In the first half of the season, the Spundcarpet soars high into the sky, and starting in January 2027, the Soundship sets sail for the sea.
The Sound Mobile is aimed at children aged 4–6.

The school concerts go on sale at different times:

The Programme
Voyage on the Sound Carpet :September to December 2026
An old rug in the Elbphilharmonie’s instrument storage room holds a secret: it can fly. But to do so, it needs the fuel of sound. Propelled by gentle melodies from the guitar and flute and the harmonies of many singing voices, the passengers soar through distant desert landscapes. Sand swirls up, ice flowers ring out, and mysterious sounds fill a stone desert on this musical journey of discovery.
Voyage on the Sound Ship :January to July 2027
Ship ahoy! The Sound Ship is setting off on an adventurous voyage. The sea is roaring, the ships’ horns blare – and somewhere, so the rumour goes, lies buried a mysterious treasure. Together, the children set off in search of that treasure, and on the way they come across lots of orchestral and percussion instruments.
At the Community Centres
Visit the Sound Mobile in Hamburg's many community centres with your kindergarten group (max. 18 children).
Start: 9:30 and 11:00
Duration: 60 minutes each (no break)

In Your Kindergarten
If your group of children is unable to attend the scheduled sessions at the community centers, the Sound Mobil can come to your facility if needed. This service is primarily intended for preschools, daycare centers with a focus on inclusion, and larger institutions. The requirements are two rooms located close to each other, each approximately 20 m², and a parking space for the Klingende Mobil.
Start: 09:30 and 11:00
Duration: 60 minutes (no break)
Cost: €50 per event (max. 18 children)
Bookings only accepted from kindergartens located in the city of Hamburg
