CANCELLED: Easter Festival
A Musical Journey along the Silk Road – from Venice to China
The Elbphilharmonie's Easter Festival focuses on artists and musical cultures along the traditional Silk Road and shows the cultural exchange that took place for centuries. The festival is opened by China's best-known contemporary composer, Tan Dun, with his large-scale oratorio »Buddha Passion«. The work was inspired by 1,500-year-old wall paintings in the cave temples of an ancient Chinese oasis town on the Silk Road, which display Chinese, Persian, Turkish and European influences. Dun also integrates manuscripts found there into his work.
