Description

There are not many composers in the world who can compete with Ludwig van Beethoven in terms of fame. It is no wonder, then, that the music world is celebrating the 200th anniversary of his death in grand style. At the Elbphilharmonie and the Laeiszhalle, large-scale cycles will feature all his symphonies, piano concertos and sonatas, as well as his string quartets. But Beethoven is so much more than that!

Iván Fischer and the Budapest Festival Orchestra, featuring a dream cast, will bring the legendary Ninth Symphony to the Elbphilharmonie, star pianists such as Kit Armstrong, Leif Ove Andsnes and Rudolf Buchbinder have each selected highlights from the sonatas and other piano works, whilst the legendary dancer and choreographer Sascha Waltz will demonstrate, as part of her »Reflektor« festival at the Elbphilharmonie, that the Seventh Symphony is also an excellent piece to dance to.
