Martin Fröst

Swedish artist Martin Fröst occupies a special position among »world class« clarinettists. Not only has he mastered the entire repertoire for his instrument, not only does he have an impeccable approach and captivating musicality, but he is also constantly on the lookout for new forms of expression. »I simply like to surprise myself,« Fröst explains. This is reflected in his residency, which brings him together on four evenings with the NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra and the Israel Philharmonic. The first of these concerts features his signature piece, the solo concerto »Peacock Tales« by his countryman Anders Hillborg, in which he wears a stylised mask and dances on stage.
