»The Glass Hours« – Jazz Bass
Jazz Bass
The foundation of every band, always radiating casual elegance, but also a great solo act: five concerts featuring luminaries in their fields put the jazz bass in the spotlight
Bass, bass, we need bass! Whether in small combos or large big bands – the bass is indispensable as a harmonious foundation and link between rhythm section and melody. But this season, five of today’s top jazz bassists, who have also made a name for themselves as songwriters and bandleaders, demonstrate that the bass can be an excellent solo instrument as well. Linda May Han Oh presents her album »The Glass Hours«, which brought her international breakthrough in 2023, Henri Texier creates a monument to the music of indigenous peoples in America, and Hamburg-born Lisa Wulff looks forward to a home game. With three-time Grammy winner Meshell Ndegeocello and superstar Christian McBride, two heroes of the scene come to the Elbphilharmonie at the end of the series.
