Description

Saved for the conclusion of the five-day Beethoven festival is a symphony of the highest order: the Ninth with its famous choral finale from Schiller’s »Ode to Joy« and essentially a majestic piece of music that one gladly listens to again and again, each time sounding crisp and unique. The list of similarities between Beethoven and Principal Conductor Dudamel starts to grow longer when one takes this symphony into consideration.

On one side, the revolutionary composer, whose late works exploded the symphonic form. He steered music history in a completely new direction and demanded universal peace with his Ninth Symphony. On the other side, the charismatic conductor, who not only juggles a repertoire of great works with ease, but also writes music history with countless new commissions, dedicates much of his time to working with young people and dreams of bringing music to as many people as possible. No wonder Time magazine named him one of the 100 most influential people in the world. This concert is a highlight not to be missed!
