Description
Perhaps the most important symphony of the 20th century: in 1953, Dmitri Shostakovich responded to the oppression of Stalin’s rule with his Symphony No. 10. Marcus Bosch, the General Music Director of the Staatstheater and the Staatsphilharmonie Nuremberg is making his debut with the Symphoniker Hamburg with this major orchestral piece.
Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No. 1, whose introduction theme must be nearly as popular as songs by the Beatles, has gone down in music history. Premiered in Boston in 1875, it is the prototype of the Romantic piano concerto. Despite this outstanding feature there is nothing academic about it - everything flows…Especially under the fingers of the exceptionally gifted Russian pianist Yevgeny Sudbin.
