Description

The Hamburg Symphony Orchestra opens its new season at the Laeiszhalle with an extraordinary program that combines creation and re-creation, tradition and the present, for a season opener that is as thoughtful as it is rich in sound.

Under the baton of Principal Conductor Sylvain Cambreling, the program features excerpts from Beethoven’s ballet music »Die Geschöpfe des Prometheus«, Wagner’s »Wesendonck Lieder« featuring soprano Jennifer Holloway, and Hans Zender’s »Schumann Fantasy«. While Beethoven’s Prometheus brings the creative spark into play, Wagner focuses on the inner fire of longing and passion. Hans Zender, in turn, draws inspiration from a Romantic-era work and translates it into a contemporary musical language.
