Description

On 10 January 2016 the music world lost one of its greatest rock stars: David Bowie. The British singer was a leading light in the world of pop music for over 40 years, constantly shaping and reinventing both music and himself. An enigmatic style and sex symbol, a musical chameleon and visionary free spirit, he was one of the most successful musicians of our time, with 25 studio albums to his credit and more than 140 million records sold. With his last album, »Blackstar«, which was released just two days before his death, he managed to surprise his fans by venturing into new musical territory. In summer 2016, the conductor André de Ridder and his ensemble stargaze presented arrangements of the songs from this last album at the BBC Proms – a musical tribute that can now be heard in the same line-up in the Elbphilharmonie Grand Hall.
