In 2017, before the official opening, Sasha Waltz and her dance ensemble explored the Foyer of the Elbphilharmonie. Now, the choreographer returns to Hamburg with her latest production. In »Kreatur«, she draws a picture of a society on the brink of collapse.
Dressed in fine, silver-wool shells created by the fashion designer Iris van Herpen, 14 dancers perform highly visual scenes ranging from quiet encounters to open battle, from community to isolation. They are accompanied by contemporary beats and sound compositions, and the ever-resonant question: how does the group carry the individual – and when does it let them fall?
