Description

Nearly two generations separate Morton Subotnick from Alec Empire: Subotnick was born in 1933, and went on in the early 1960s to set up the San Francisco Tape Music Center, where he joined forces with icons like Pauline Oliveiros to hunt down the very latest in new music. Later on he worked closely together with Don Buchla, who developed an intuitively playable synthesizer without a keyboard, called the »Buchla«. Alec Empire was born in early 70s West Berlin, and made a name for himself with his band Atari Teenage Riot. »From Silver Apples to a Sky of Cloudless Sulphur, Revisited« is the name Subotnick gives to the programme of own compositions from several decades that the two artists play at the »Electronauts« festival, sometimes solo and sometimes as a duo.
