Description

Mitsuko Uchida and the Elbphilharmonie have a very special relationship: ahead of time, the British-Japanese pianist was entrusted with the task of carefully selecting the three new grand pianos for the concert hall. And she also had the honour of giving the first piano recital in the Grand Hall shortly after the official opening. Now the grande dame of the piano returns to Hamburg to give not one but two concerts.

Her programmes consist exclusively of Schubert, in whose music Uchida sees absolute »purity of feeling«. As one of »the world’s greatest Schubert interpreters« (New York Times), the sensitive pianist plays a total of six sonatas, including the last two, which are among this profound composer’s most important works.
