Nostalgia and dreams

Two heroic tone poems are the focal points of this concert evening. Even if they couldn’t be more different in appearance, Richard Strauss and Bedřich Smetana’s works touch on the same core themes: longing and dreams, legend and reality, humour and violence. Mischa Maisky, one of the great masters of the violoncello, is the star of Strauss’s knightly epic. Nikolaj Szeps-Znaider leads the evening from the conductor’s rostrum.

Please note: Nikolaj Szeps-Znaider has regrettably been forced to cancel his participation in this concert due to illness. Han-Na Chang has kindly agreed to step in as conductor. Tickets retain their validity.
