Description

The music of Estonian composer Arvo Pärt embodies in its meditative urgency a firm belief in a supersensory power. It is, therefore, a perfect choice for the opening concert of the third edition of the »Lux aeterna« festival.

Star Estonian conductor Kristjan Järvi once described the music of his countryman as »thoroughly sincere and honest«, placing it on the same level as Bach and Mozart’s spiritual works.

Latvian maestro Sigvards Kļava conducts vocal and instrumental works by Pärt that speak directly to the heart and soul. These include his famous string piece »Fratres« – a great musical in- and exhalation – and his partly folkloristic choral work »Adam’s Lament«, which was awarded a Grammy in 2014.
